Religion

I've always been very vocal about religion, and this basically sums up my views on it.

Most supporters of the various religions focus on their freedom to choose what they believe, and they're absolutely right. Most anti-religion voices preach about how there's no proof, so there's no reason to believe, and they're also right. They're both also wrong: It's not about whether the belief is right or wrong, it's about the implications of belief on innocent parties.

For instance, a child who is raised by christian parents, will be taught that the religion that the parents decide to follow is the only right one, and that anyone who doesn't follow their religion will not go to heaven. The child, being a child, has to believe the parents (it's in our genes), and they will likely never get to make an informed decision on the matter. It's brainwashing, and it's sick.

That of course, is a mild case. There are ones who think they are the worlds moral compass, and will try to force other people to behave the way their religion tells them to. It's not just an Islamic thing. There are an equal percentage of these people in every religion, and you can't have religion without them.

Every sapient creature has the right to self determination, and religion destroys that.
