Racism and Fear.

So imagine you're living in a country. That country is at war with another country. Your living conditions are terrible and your children are in danger. So you save up thousands of dollars to try and save your children and give them a real chance at life. You pay people to put them on a boat to send them to a safe country, where the kinds of horrors they have experienced don't happen. Your children risk their lives escaping from hell, but *if* they arrive to the safety of a countrly like ours, they're thrown in prison. They live in prison for years, under terrible living conditions until one day they get sent straight back to the very place they were trying to escape from. They never posed a "threat" to our country, but our government decided that they didn't deserve to be treated like human beings based solely on the fact that they were born on a different bit of dirt than us.

You tell me which is the worse crime, escaping hell for a better life? Or throwing children in prison based on some asinine political policy? Our country's policy on refugees is driven solely by racism and fear, and it's incredibly inhumane. It has to change.
